چکیده

Nowadays underwater communication plays a vital role in applications from commercial extends to military purposes. Present underwater communication systems involve the transmission of information in the form of sound, electromagnetic (EM), or optical waves. All these techniques has their own benefits and limitations. Acoustic communication is the most versatile and widely used technique in underwater environments because of its low attenuation compared with others. Acoustic waves are more applicable for thermally stable, deep water settings. But acoustic waves in shallow water can be adversely affected by temperature gradients, surface ambient noise, and multipath propagation due to reflection and refraction. The much slower speed of acoustic propagation in water, about 1500 m/s (meters per second), compared with that of electromagnetic and optical waves, and is another limiting factor for efficient communication and networking. Nevertheless, the currently favorable technology for underwater communication is upon acoustics. In this paper, we are planning to design a simple underwater acoustic system. We first discuss about the problems of underwater communication. Then we are designing a data transmission system in underwater and its analysis is done in the next step.

Analysis of Doppler Effect in OFDM signals for Underwater Acoustic Channels

Acoustic communication is best supported at low frequency. Since the available bandwidth is less, higher order modulation techniques such as OFDM are employed. Inherent motion of the system poses stringent limitation on the synchronization issues. Thus modelling of multipath propagation especially Doppler Effect plays an important role in the efficient design of high data rate acoustic communic...

Experimental Evaluation of Zp-Ofdm Scheme in Time Varying Underwater Multipath Channel

An experimental analysis to evaluate the practical suitability of the Underwater Acoustic (UWA) communication scheme is the major aim of this study. Oceanic channel imposes two major challenges (i.e., multipath propagation and Doppler effects) for underwater acoustic communication. Being fastest possible underwater information exchanger, OFDM is considered as the most viable option for mitigati...

Multi - Rate Base on OFDM in Underwater Sensor Networks

Underwater acoustic communication has the characteristics of multipath effect and frequency selectively attenuation. Aiming at these characteristics, this paper proposes a Multi-Rate model based on channel feature based on OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) technology. With the frequency selectivity of underwater acoustic channel and the link distance, the optimal carrier frequen...
